Beginning July 1, 2023, the table below will list UC Santa Barbara building locations where a potential COVID-19 exposure may have occurred over the last thirty days. This information is based on positive cases known to the university through self-reporting or through limited PCR testing at Student Health.
A “potential COVID-19 exposure” is defined as a COVID-19 case being present, and sharing airspace with others, for 15 cumulative minutes or more over a 24-hour period during the infectious period, regardless of the use of face coverings. In large indoor spaces (>400,000 cubic feet), close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of the infected person for 15 cumulative minutes or more over a 24-hour period during the infectious period.
After exposure, persons without symptoms should obtain COVID-19 testing within 3-5 days, or sooner if symptoms develop. Close contacts are also recommended to wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings and when near those at higher risk for severe COVID-19 disease. Further information about COVID-19 exposure and isolation information is available from the California Department of Public Health.
Please note that the university's COVID-19 dashboard has been discontinued as a means of tracking overall COVID-19 case numbers since the widespread use of home testing has made these numbers unreliable."
